Sharon Simpson
Sharon Simpson is the proud owner and rider of Reitse ("Rite-sa") also known as Ritzy, he is a 11 year old gelding imported from the Netherlands at age 7. He was judged by the Friesian Horse Association of North America at age 8 and became studbook Star gelding, a high honor for the breed. I enjoy riding Reitse in parades, trail rides and he has been trained to bow and perform the Spanish Walk. My greatest joy with him now is performing as a group with the Royal Friesians of Kansas City which I helped start in 2007, as a group of Friesian horse owners, promoting this unique breed in Kansas City as a purebred Friesian riding club. Together we have a better opportunity to showcase this magnificent breed.
Susan Sunday
Abel Van Lheebroek is a 9 year old FHANA gelding. Susan enjoys trail riding, doing parades and local circuit shows with Abel. Shannan Sunday, Susan's daughter, currently rides Abel in the Royal Friesians of Kansas City drill team. At 16 years of age Shannan is the youngest member in the team. Shannan says it has been an incredible experience to be a member and she has learned so much from riding with them. Shannan hopes to someday have a Friesian of her own to ride with the team. While Susan doesn't do much riding with the team she does act as a coach on the ground to help them at events and practices. Susan says that since the team has been together she has had some of the best times of her life participating at events, doing educational demonstrations or just hanging out with the team after performances. Being around the horses and the members is sure to put a smile on your face!
